The Christian Medical Scientists and Basic Health Foundation (CMESBAHF) proudly presents its 2025 National Conference, aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in biomedical sciences. This conference serves as a platform to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications in the Nigerian healthcare landscape. The CMESBAHF 2025 National Conference, "Cultivating Talent, Catalyzing Investment: Advancing Biomedical Sciences for Nigeria's Healthcare Value Chain" addresses two critical challenges facing Nigeria's biomedical sector: the need for skilled human resources and sustainable funding for research and innovation.

Despite being Africa's largest economy, Nigeria faces a significant shortage of biomedical researchers and practitioners. This shortage hampers the country's ability to address its complex health challenges effectively. Simultaneously, inadequate funding for biomedical research and innovation has slowed the development and implementation of locally relevant healthcare solutions. Recent years have seen promising developments in Nigeria's biomedical research capacity. However, to sustain and accelerate this progress, we must focus on cultivating a robust pipeline of skilled professionals and securing consistent, substantial funding for research and innovation across the healthcare value chain.

This conference aims to tackle these twin challenges head-on. By bringing together diverse stakeholders – from students and early-career researchers to seasoned scientists, from policymakers to industry leaders – we seek to create a comprehensive strategy for human resource development in biomedical sciences. Concurrently, we will explore innovative funding models and partnerships to boost investment in biomedical research and healthcare innovation. The Christian Medical Scientists and Basic Health Foundation (CMESBAHF), with its network of over 2,000 members across nine universities, is uniquely positioned to lead this initiative. Our organization's commitment to promoting Christian values while advancing scientific knowledge aligns with the conference's goal of fostering ethically-grounded, skilled professionals and sustainable funding mechanisms.

This conference responds to several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). By spotlighting human resource development and increased funding, we aim to contribute not only to scientific advancement but also to Nigeria's broader socio-economic development.
